What is TRC20?
Tron is a popular blockchain-based operating system on which one can create decentralized applications and share media content. In fact, TRON allows users to freely publish, store, and own data ownership. This is similar to Ethereum. Like ERC on Ethereum, TRC is a standard for tokens running on the TRON platform.
However, instead of ERC20, a popular Ethereum token standard, TRON has 2 types of standards called TRC10 and TRC20.
The difference between TRC10 and TRC20
Just like Ethereum, there are many different ERC standards, such as ERC20, ERC721, ERC1155, ERC1190, etc. After going through the mainnet, there are 2 standards for issuing tokens based on TRON’s network: TRC10 and TRC20.
TRC-10 is a technical token standard backed by the TRON blockchain. The TRC10 standard is quite popular due to its ease of use. You don’t even need to know anything about the code to be able to issue tokens based on TRON’s TRC10 platform.
TRC-20 is a technical standard used for smart contracts on the TRON blockchain to deploy tokens with the TRON Virtual Machine (TVM). It is fully compatible with the ERC-20.
